Huawei is well known for its own Kirin processor which was used in its Smartphones instead of Snapdragon or MediaTek processor. Kirin 970 Processor – Features
The new Kirin 970 processor is built on the 10nm process. It is an Octa core CPU and features 4×2.4GHz Cortex-A73 and 4×1.8GHz Cortex-A53 cores and a 12-core Mali-G72MP12 GPU. With Kirin 970 processor, the company has implemented the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) which means it is AI Powered chipset. Huawei claims that the new chipset will be25x the performance with 50x greater efficiency. Also, the new processor offers better noise reduction technology and thus improves the camera quality. It will also support 4k video recording at 60FPS.
Talking about other features and improvement, the Kirin 970 processor has support for 4.5G Cat.18 LTE and which download speed can go up to 1.2Gbps. With the dedicated NPU, the chipset can implement faster image and voice recognition into the phone claimed by the company. The company also claims that the Kirin 970 processor will be faster than the Snapdragon 835.
The new Kirin 970 processor is believed to debut on the Huawei Mate 1 and it is really exciting to check what special the company is going to offer with the AI enabled chipset. Also, Huawei has opened up their developer platform for the developers to come up with some interesting Applications.
