Design & Built:

The phone doesn’t look cheap or you won’t even feel the same. The design of Redmi 2S looks similar to the previous model with some changes and upgrade. It feels very comfort and compact when holding it hand the back panel is made from the high-quality plastic. At there is a 3.5mm Audio jack and to the right there is the Volume rockers and power button.USB or the charging port, Mic is placed at the bottom and there is nothing at the left.Coming to the rear side LED Flash is placed at the left to the camera and the Speaker to the right. There is a Noice cancelation Mic at the top of the camera for the better voice call quality. There three navigation buttons and sadly they are not Backlit enabled. The phone has also got Multicolor LED light below the Home button for quick notification purpose. You can change the color of the Notification light by heading to Settings>Additional Settings> Notifications Light.

 Performance:

Coming to the performance, Xiaomi Redmi 2S does really well with its 1.2 GHz Quad-Core processor, 1GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU.There is no much lagging while doing multi-tasking and it handles the request with ease.It played some high-end games like Asphalt 8, Dead trigger 2 and Beach Buggy Racing without any lags. But it could not play every HD games as I noticed some lag and shutter delay. The Redmi 2S played 720P and 1080P videos without any issues. The main drawback of Redmi 1S was the heating issues, but it is not the same with this device. There is no much or no heating is felt while making multitasking and HD games. The free RAM available after the first boot is just 350 MB out of 1GB and so you cannot expect the lag less performance without cleaning the RAM now and then.

Display:

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 comes with 4.7 inch LCD display with 720×1280 pixels resolution. The display supports up to 10 Multi-touch point which is great. It does not have any Gorilla Glass protection, but the display feels smooth and the touch is very responsive.Used the phone hardly for one week and observed a minute scratch on the screen. The viewing angles are great and Ok with sun lights but highly readable.Though the phone is 4.7 inches it feels compact and comfort while holding it.

The 8MP rear camera with fixed f/2.2 aperture is the real advantage of the device. The camera User interface is very simple and easy to use.You can switch between front and rear camera by swiping up or down. The quick setting is grapped by swiping to the left and you can switch the filters by swiping right. Some of the features available in the option menu are Panorama, Audio, HDR, Highlight tones, Manual, HHT and Scene Mode.More changes can be made at Settings>Camera.

The images are sharp at day light and the color reproduction ig good. But the colors are little over saturated than the natural color. The manual mode allows you to adjust the White balance, exposure and ISO.The ISO can be maximized up to 800 in Redmi 2.

The image difference can be seen from the above images for HDR kept ON and OFF. HDR Mode brings more light inside removing the shadows and keeps the image natural. The camera event does the fine job in Indoor light and night time.

The front camera is quite good enough to capture quick selfies with different filters. It also used to make some decent quality video calls. There is no option for front camera except countdown option.

UI and OS:

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 runs on the Android Kitkat 4.4.4 with MIUI 6.3.4.1(KHJMIBL)| Stable version. The OS is so light and gives quick navigation experience. The OS is not heavy at all and it is very responsive. Some of the preloaded Applications are Facebook, WPS Office, Flesky, SwiftKey Keyboard, Flipkart and other Google Apps. The tools available on Redmi 2 are Clock, Mail, FM Radio, Calculator, Recorder, Compass, and Scanner. It also has inbuilt File explorer for handling the Files and the media.

Battery:

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 comes with the 2200 mAh battery to power up the house. The battery supported the phone quite well and it provided full day battery backup with average usage. Also with the 3G data kept ON the battery lasted up to 10 hours and it drains very fast while high gaming.
