We have seen lots of Flagship Smartphones with higher specifications but most of them really lack in the battery part. we are in the generation where we don’t have the time to charge out phones. We keep on using them every time and after few hours, the phone runs out of the battery. This is not going to be same anymore, the Asus has launched a battery centric Smartphone at the affordable price range named the Asus Zenfone Max. I have been using this Smartphone for the past two weeks and I am sharing my views in this post. Here is the Asus Zenfone Max review, let’s find out how the phone performance.
Asus Zenfone Max Review
Design and Look
As usual, starting with the design of the phone the Asus have finally come out of their traditional design. The side frame is made out of the metal and has got a leather mixed plastic type rear panel. The rear panel makes the phone comfort to hold and it does not feel slippery. To the top, the LED notification light, Earphone, sensors and the Selfie camera are placed. On the right-hand side, the volume rockers, power button are found and the left-hand side is kept empty. The 3.5mm headphone jack is found at the top while the USB port and the Mic are placed the bottom of the phone.
To the rear side, there is a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash and Laser Auto focus. Just near to the camera, there is a noise cancelling mic and the Asus Logo is placed below the camera.Opening the rear panel, two Micro SIM card slot and a Micro SD Card slot can be found. Just below there is a huge 5,000 mAh battery which cannot be removed.
Display
The Asus Zenfone Max has the 5.5-inch display with 1280×720 pixels density and 267 PPI pixel density. The Asus has some of the display modes inbuilt with the phone and you can choose one according to your need. The display is good enough to watch movies and there is no trouble of accessing the phone in the sunlight. If you feel tough to use the phone with the single hand while travelling then the Asus Zenfone Max also has the “One Hand Mode” option. The display is protected by the corning Gorilla Glass. Altogether the display on the Zenfone 2 is quite good for the price and satisfies the requirements.
Performance
First of all talking about the specification of the phone, the Asus Zenfone Max is powered by the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Processor and 2GB RAM. For the graphics performance, the phone is packed with the Adreno 306 GPU. Now talking about the performance, the phone did well at the minimal usage. But when there are too many Apps opened in the background the phone lagged here are there. There are some delayed responses while switching between the Apps.

The same case with the gaming too, the phone handled the less intensive games quite well. But when it comes to high-end games like Dead Trigger, Asphalt 8 the Asus Zenfone Max did not perform well. Many lags and frame drops were observed at higher graphics setting but when the setting is made to lower graphics the game performed quite okay. To the surprise, the phone did not heat up too much while gaming.
The speaker output of the device was quite impressive. The speaker was loud enough and gave a clear audio output but if the phone is placed down the sound starts to muffle due to the speaker placement. Similarly, the voice calls on the phone was good enough as well. The voice was clear without any disturbance and the receiver can also hear our voice properly without any issue. Over all talking about the performance the Asus Zenfone Max, the phone performed well but surely not the best performer in its price segment.
Camera
As always every Zenfone performs well in the camera segment and it is same with the Asus Zenfone Max too. The 13MP rear camera can able to capture some great picture at the natural lights. The pictures came out very well with good amount of details and the color reproduction was good too. The saturation was little lesser than the original color but it does not spoil the image.

Now talking about the UI of the camera, it is similar to the every other Zenfone camera UI. The Asus Zenfone Max camera has some of the modes like Auto, Manual, HDR, Beautification, Low Light, Night, Depth of Field, Effect, Selfie. GIF Animation, Panorama, Miniature, Time Rewind, Smart remove, All smiles, Slow motion and Time-lapse. The rear camera can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps and it also has video stabilization option. Here are the few camera samples of the Asus Zenfone Max.
UI & OS
There is nothing special to talk about the UI. The Asus Zenfone Max runs on the Android Lollipop 5.0.2 with the Zen UI on the top. The OS is preloaded with lots of bloatware but you can uninstall some of them. The UI give lots of inbuilt features like Hide Apps, Lock Apps, kids mode, easy mode etc. The internal storage of the Asus Zenfone Max is 16GB and it can also be expanded up to 64GB using a Micro SD card. We hope the phone would get the Android M Marshmallow anytime soon.
Battery
Lets now talk about the hero of the Asus Zenfone Max Review, battery. The phone is bundled with the huge 5,000 mAh non removable battery. The battery lasted for two whole days on the average usage, 3 days on minimal usage and lasted for one whole day on the super heavy usage. It is the one of the very few choices you have if you are looking for he long battery life smartphone. But one of the con with the battery segment is that the Zenfone max does not have the Fast charging feature. So charging the phone to full 100% is such a pain and it takes around 5 hours to charge the battery from 0-100%. The Asus Zenfone max can also be used as the Powerbank using the OTG cable by the reverse charging method. The OTG Cable is provided along with the phone inside the box pack.
