Honor Holly 2 Plus is the successor model of Honor Holly which was sold like hot cakes in India. Being the successor model, the Honor Holly 2 Plus comes with some enhancement by taking the feedback from users. I have been using this device for past two weeks and ended up with few pros and cons. Today I will list them through this review and give you some reasons to buy the Honor Holly 2 Plus or not to buy them. Here is the review of Honor Holly 2 Plus after using it for two weeks in terms of design, display, performance, camera, OS, battery and much more.
Honor Holly 2 Plus review
Design
Talking about the design of the phone, the phone is made out of plastic with metallic like frame. The texture on the rear back panel gives a nice grip to hold the device. The Honor Holly 2 Plus is little bulkier as it holds the 4,000 mAh battery inside it. The left of the phone is completely naked while the right side holds the volume and power buttons. On the top, the 3.5 mm headphone jack is placed and the standard USB port can be found at the bottom of the phone. There are two grill opening at the bottom, out of which only left side is the actual speaker and the other side has the microphone placed inside.
The pack of Honor Holly 2 Plus contains the phone itself, charger adaptor, USB cable, user manual and the warranty card. Unfortunately, there is no earphone found inside the box, maybe t0 cut down the price of the phone as much as possible.
Display
The phone comes with 5 inch HD IPS display with 1280 x 720 Pixels resolution. The color looks quite natural and saturated on the display. Even the viewing angles are good enough and I could able to use the phone in sunlight without much difficulty. Tough the display is good, the touch response doesn’t seem to be very well. I must say the touch does not respond well at some times especially when I try to access the notification panel by swiping down the screen. But most of the time it works quite good without any problems.
Unfortunately, the phone does not come with any Gorilla Glass protection and it is highly recommended to install the tempered glass or the screen guard. The 5″ screen makes it very comfortable to hold in a single hand. The phone supports 5 points multi-touch and it comes with Auto-adaptive brightness option as well.
Performance
The Honor Holly 2 Plus is powered by 1.3 GHz Cortex-A53 Quad-core processor along with 2GB RAM. The performance of the phone is smooth most of the times and it could handle the multitasking very easily. There are a little bit of lags observed when too much of inputs are given. But it can be overcome by closing the background running Apps in the regular interval.
The Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus can able to handle the high-end games very easily. I have tried playing some of the HD games like Asphalt 8, Dead trigger 2, NFS most wanted and it played very well. Though there are a very little bit of frame drops in the High graphics settings, the medium graphics setting makes the gameplay buttery smooth. Above all these you have a pleasant surprise. Any guesses on it?
“The Honor Holly 2 Plus does not heat up even while playing the HD games while many other phones in this segment heats up even for multi-tasking”
Apart from the performance, the phone is also capable of making phone calls without any kind of issues. There are no network issues and the phone could able to receive the Wifi signal even when the router was placed far away. The phone comes with dual SIM support and both of them supports 4G LTE. The speaker output is decent enough but the sound muffles while holding the phone in landscape. The phone has onscreen navigation button and there is two option available for you to choose between.
Storage
The Honor Holly 2 Plus comes with 16GB of onboard storage out of which around 9.8 GB is user available. The phone also comes with the separate slot of Micro SD Card which supports a card up to 128GB. There won’t be any issues with this device in terms of storage. It also supports OTG for connecting pen drives and you can also connect the gaming controller.
Camera
The device comes with 13MP rear camera with single LED Flash and 5MP front facing camera. The UI looks quite simple and it does require lots of improvement. The rear camera can able to capture the decent shots in the natural light and the indoor performance of the camera is also good enough as well. Still the camera could have done well in the low light conditions. The 5MP front facing camera is good to use in daylight and its just average in indoors.
OS & UI
The Honor Holly 2 Plus runs on the Android v5.1 lollipop with Huawei EMUI 3.1 LITE UI on the top. The phones with some of the inbuilt Apps, out of which some can be uninstalled. Huawei tried to push lots of feature into the OS and thus making it little laggier. I hope the OS will be given some improvement in the future updates by taking some feedback from users.
Battery
Here comes the Rajinikanth part of the Honor Holly 2 Plus, the battery 😉 The phone comes with the huge 4000 mAh battery and the battery is not user replaceable. To be frank the battery is the most important factor of the Smartphone apart from the above-mentioned features. This phone has a very great battery life which can last for a whole day on a heavy usage without any difficulty. On the average use, it can last for 2 days on a single charge.
Being packed with 4,000 mAh battery, the Holly 2 Plus comes with quick charging feature. The phone can be charged from 0 to 100% in less than 2.3 hours. This is not an end, the phone also comes with reverse charging feature by which you can use your Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus as a power bank.
Final Verdict
If you are looking for a phone with good performance, camera, and long-lasting battery and still at your budget, then Honor Holly 2 Plus is the right choice. The phone is available at Rupees 8,499 via Flipkart and also, you can buy from hihonor store. While buying from the Honor store, you also get a protective case at free of cost. The Honor Holly 2 Plus is available in Gold, White, and Grey color variants.
